Unit 9 Discussion 1 Understanding the Research Plan Process Activity Context This discussion measures your progress in mastering the following course competencies: Evaluate management theories in both local and global contexts. Analyze research methodologies applicable for business research. Write and present in academically appropriate ways. Activity Instruction Now that you better understand the categories of content that go into a research plan, answer the following questions in your initial discussion post: What are the particular research plan areas you feel the most comfortable with, and what are the areas you need to more fully understand and develop? Where will you find the information you need to develop these areas? Specifically, how will you develop those areas? How does the information in the discussions and readings impact your doctoral path? What phases of development for your research path do you anticipate? What are some support resources you might employ to help navigate successful development of your research? Include details that explain how each resource will enhance your development. Avoid listing these questions verbatim as headings. Instead create shorter headings that state what each section covers. Your introduction and summary need to state what is covered in the essay. As you work to answer these questions, be sure to: Include APA citations as needed when using outside evidence. Cite and reference any Capella sources as Web sources. Post early in the week so that others can respond to your ideas. Response Guidelines Respond to two learners with analysis and advice for their anticipated phases of development, and inquire how they will overcome their perceived shortcomings around the phases. Remember that this is a collaborative learning experience; we are peers, so responses should be written with respect and honest reflection. Resources Discussion Participation Scoring Guide. Research Plan Areas

A research plan is critical since it measures the competencies and skills of a candidate (Bryman, 2016). It will assist an institution to know how best to advise and guide a candidate in the course of the academic study. Therefore, the key research plan areas where there is comfort in handling and results delivered pronto to the expectations and as designed are data collection, data analysis, presentation of the findings, writing and research proposal and the literature review component of the research planning. Data collection is a comfortable phase since a template has already been rolled out and the research questions aid in guiding the data collection and analysis aspect. The research topic determines research design thus assist in establishing the hypothesis that can be affirmed or refuted. Analysis of the data is a comfortable aspect of the research plan since the components of qualitative and quantitative data assist in sorting it out. However, the key areas to fully understand and possibly develop further is the component of establishing a specific research topic, research hypothesis, and objectives of the research. These are the integral aspects of the research. When the topic is ambiguous, or the objectives cannot be tested, then the research process becomes very futile.

Information on Research Plan Areas

In the age of information technology, it is easy to say that everything is on the internet. However, with respect to the research plan, the library would be an ideal place to get information on how to better develop the research plan. According to Flick 2015, the resources at the library would be critical in helping narrow down on a research topic, institute objectives, and a hypothesis that would guide the entire research. Information can also be obtained from the research supervisor as a human resource to help guide the candidate. However, through extensive reading on literature review and consulting other journal articles, magazines, newspapers, government data departments, the needed information can be accessed. Specifically, the uncomfortable areas like settling down on a research topic, objectives, and hypothesis and research question can be done through consultations where an idea can be made more specific and easier to investigate. The literature review will help avoid repeating the works which had been done by other people. When the top is rightfully selected, the objectives can thus be aligned to make a meaningful contribution to the field of study.

Impacts of Information in discussions and Readings

The information obtained in the readings and discussions are imperative is enhancing the critical thought and boosting the faculty of the intellect to argue and reason above the obvious and create meaning beyond the naked eyes. Per se, it gives a critical mind which can enhance the thinking and argumentative writing through criticism and getting more informed thoughts. Discussions also impact the doctoral path to the extent that it avails almost new information constantly from other colleagues. However, most importantly, it gives a platform to share ideas amongst peers and create different perspectives on how to view a phenomenon in the field of study in general terms.

Phases of Research Path

The phases anticipated for the research path would be first, the preliminary phase that involves topic selection, establishing a research schedule plan, setting research objectives, the literature review, and writing the proposal. The preliminary phase would be critical since it sets the stage as to whether the research project would be successful and make a contribution in the field of study or not (Neuman, 2013). It also involves a lot of consultations. When it is put right and a schedule for each task a signed, the subsequent phases would fall in place. The second phase would include seeking permission and meeting compliances to collect data in the field. The third phase would include data analysis and interpretation. The final phase would be presenting the findings and publication of the research paper or report.

Additional Resources

So as to navigate successfully on the research path, additional resources that would be used includes the Turnitin, Grammarly, cite this for me, EBSCOhost and YouTube. Turnitin will specifically be imperative since it assists to detect plagiarism. Coping other people`s works without acknowledging them is an intellectual offense. As such, the use of the resource is vital since it helps to detect if a work has been published and by who. Grammarly is also vital as it helps to polish the research proposals and written work to conform to all grammatical expectations and proper language. It helps in correcting spelling mistakes, improper used verbs, nouns or adjectives and sentences fragmentation making the work coherent and grammatically correct. Cite this for me is a reference site that would be important in assisting cite documents and external materials used by other publishers more so when other books or material have been consulted. EBSCOhost in a library of articles which have been published, it is a resource which will be essential in getting published materials on a ray of topics. It will be an important resource since it can assist narrow down the topic from published materials. YouTube is a free teaches that can be consulted to fill in gaps at any time in the course of the research.
