There is a great demand for tourist service which gives rise to the big quantity of proposals. New travel agencies are open every day and already existing ones widens the field of action.
In the situations of a growing competition you need to possess personal charisma and communication skills in addition to high professional skills. This kind of work can be very rewarding when the clients are happy and satisfied with your service. But unfortunately you have to be responsible for the service that other people provide, like hotel service, booking/reservation systems, airline industry and even the weather. Dissatisfied clients always blame travel agencies in all misfortunes which happen to them even if it is not by fault of the tourist agent.
You need to have a quick reaction and to be ready to take coincident decisions in order to solve unexpected problems which so often occur in a business like this. The dynamics of the business requires speedy reactions and taking responsibilities. Work in this sphere is full of surprises –both pleasant and unpleasant and you need to posses tons of enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, high motivation and professional knowledge of the subject in order to succeed. thats why i chose tourism as a career choice.
