Introduction

Management is critical to organizational success. Management refers to the science and art of attaining the goals and objectives of an organization via employees and other stakeholders (Hill et al., 2014). Managers play significant roles within the organizational setting like planning, leading, controlling, supervising and staffing. The type of management theory and leadership skills are imperative in the overall organizational growth and benefit. It is vital to mention that organizations which are well managed using proper management theories are able to maximize productivity, make decision making a simple process, motivate employee performance and participation, and adapt to global market trends or changes. The paper seeks to employ the use of scholarly materials and research to examine the extent to which proper management theories and practices can help organizations to expand and internationalize their business to other geographical regions.

Research Problem

The research would be focusing on management practices which are effective to organizational growth. Particularly, the research would focus on the aspects of management theories and practices which can assist an already existing organization to expand and internationalize operations to other geographical regions. According to Wiedersheim-Paul & Johannsson 2017, internationalization is the ability of an organization to expand operations beyond a particular geographical location like country or continent to others. The essence of such largescale expansion is to bypass local competition, increase the consumer base, increase control of market share, and technological advancement. However, it is important to note that most organizations are not able to internationalize or expand their business due to bad management practices.

Good management practices are able to inspire the workforce through mentoring, motivation and effective reward and recognition systems (Tedeschi, 2013) which would increase the productivity of employees. Communication is enhanced in a top-down and down top approach. As such, using bureaucratic management theory alone would not enhance communication since it only emphasizes the top-down approach. Using an integrated management practice would thus be more effective. An organization is able to expand to other geographical locations if the internal management systems are effective and yield desired results.  It would be able to have an internationalization strategy, plan and execute pronto realizing the vision of internationalization. However, bad practices would not be able to lead a firm successfully.

Research Purpose

The purpose of the research is to blend leadership competencies, and styles to management theories and practices to improve the effectiveness of management and it proposes an integrated management system. The research establishes a position that if a particular management practice is adhered to strictly, it would not be effective since they have particular deficits. For instances, one practice would be vital in fostering planning and organizational culture, but very weak in communication amongst the workforce (Bratton & Gold, 2017). It is therefore critical to have a blend of methods which can yield maximum results as the data from practicing companies would elucidate.

The significance of the Study

The study is significant to the research problem and to business in particular. It seeks to examine, the extent to which proper management practices are vital for organizational growth thus internationalization capacity. Specifically, the research is significant since it will explain the variables in the field of business that affects productivity yet is core to the management. Organizational culture would be explained to be a product of management practices which is the way people relate within the organization and with the external actors and shareholders (Bratton & Gold, 2017). Employee motivation in a comprehensive reward and recognition system is critical in inspiring the workforce to deliver their very best inputs. The significance of the research is on the methodology of internationalization which is key for organizational growth. Internationalization helps organizations to have a competitive advantage over rivals and increase market share control.

Research Questions

  1. To what extent does management systems affect organizational internationalization plans?
  2. To what degree does a proper management structure affect employee motivation and subsequent productivity for organizations?
  3. Does integrated management systems yield better results than traditional management systems?
  4. Are there bad management systems?

Methods Overview

In the research process of data collection and analysis, the research would rely on both the qualitative and quantitative data, which would be obtained from both the primary and secondary data sources (Bryman & Bell, 2015). The primary data would be collected in the fieldwork through interviews, recordings, questionnaires, participation, and observations. The secondary data would be obtained from published books and materials containing relevant information to the research problems. Such information can be obtained from the university library, government data center, organizational websites, and digitally printed media sites and cable news networks.

Qualitative data would be obtained through interviews of mangers and senior employees on certain aspects of management practices within the organizations. Government representatives would also be interviewed for accurate data. Participation, in a sample population under investigation, would also give the desired result in qualitative data collection technique. Observations and focused groups would also act as agents of qualitative data collection points. However, on the quantitative data techniques, these are measurable, values and numbers. The research would use survey, polls, and questionnaires.

Research Design and Rationale

Experimental research design will be used to show the causal relationship between proper management practices and organizational ability to expand and internationalize to other regions (University of Southern California Libraries, 2016). The research would use a sampling of the population to be observed and where participation during data collected would be conducted. The design will be used to monitor the functionality of various organizations in terms of their management practices. Which practices are good, and which ones are not good from a controlled sample and a random sample of data collection. The participants in the research would be executives who are responsible for policy formulation, employees who are responsible for implementation and the consumers who judge the different products on the market and where their preference lies. Additionally, the government institutions of compliance and regulatory measures would be included in the research. The interviews would be conducted at workplaces and stores and officers.

Research Approach

The research would employ the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Sekaran & Bougie, 2016 posit that the quantitative approaches would give the statistical data and comparisons in values and figure of the research findings in terms of percentages. Surveying, polling, and questionnaires would be used to give the quantitative data and aspect of the research needed. Conversely, qualitative data would be used to give deeper explanations and to arrive at recommendations. The qualitative data would be gathered through interviews, participation, observations, and recording.

Sample Population

The population the research seeks to investigate are senior executive officials for top organizations, government officials, employees and consumers of the products of consumer goods and services. The consumer, in particular, would be selected through random sampling. They are people met in the stores when they go for a purchase or online when they make inquiries about certain products and services offered by an organization. Employees too would be selected through a random sampling except for the senior executives. The senior executives are critical since they will be issuing expert opinions and interviews which would be limited management scope. The government officials who would be selected for the research would be the licensing, regulatory and compliance departments.

Ethical Considerations

There are ethical issues surrounding the research which entails the protection of the privacy and dignity of the research participants and the credibility and authenticity of the publication of research findings (Bryman & Bell, 2015). Ethical issues in a research are therefore important in fostering trust and accountability on the research on the manner in which data is collected, analyzed and presented. Additionally, it encourages the public to fund researches and participate in them. Permission would be sort to prospective participants and the material or information they issues shall only be used accurately to reflect their positions on issues. Additionally, their privacy, more so to those willing to be anonymous candidates to be respected. The information obtained from them cannot be used for other purposes without their consent and prior information. Permission to be sort from relevant authorities before the research work is undertaken.

Summary and Conclusion

The research which would be using experimental research design intends to examine the extent to which proper management systems affect the prospects of internationalization by an organization to new foreign markets. The research seeks to foster the essence of integrated management systems and good leadership to realize maximum productivity of employees and the organization in the long run. In order to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the research findings, ethical practices would be followed and the rights and privacy of participants respected.
