Here is the link for the video I chose https://youtu.be/i62VGhOyekg This is from my last week outline speech the one that you did: Please re-watch your Informative Speech from last week (if you presented during Keiser Live, please watch the posted replay). Answer the following questions in relation to your speech with a few sentences: Identify three non-verbal delivery techniques that were used effectively in your speech, and explain how they were effective. Identify three verbal delivery techniques that were used effectively in your speech, and explain how they were effective. Was your speech free of vocalized pauses (i.e., um, uh, like, you know) ? How can you improve this area? In evaluating your speech from a content standpoint, identify and explain how your content was both effective and memorable?

Part One

  1. the two strengths of the speaker are that the speaker is factual and articulate. By being factual, the speaker is able to use facts and figures to persuade the audience. The speaker is able to quote credible published sources that the audience are able to resonate with, and fact check to be true. Such facts when spoken, makes the audience to identify with the message and feel part and parcel of it.  Conversely, the speaker has a strength from her audibility or by being very articulate. The sound and voice is very steady and clear hence allowing the audience to digest the information and understand the message deeply. The speaker was not too fast nor too slow hence easy to follow the message.
  2. the speaker can improve on two areas, the non-verbal cues of communication and the tonal variation. In the nonverbal communication means, if the speaker is able to include facial expressions, gestures and body movements, it would be imperative in capturing more attention of the audience or the listeners (North, 2018). Usage of the stage movements and showing hands and faces in different forms makes the listeners to follow the speaker and at time would be involved by mimicking what the speaker does (North, 2018). Additionally, tonal variations is a point of improvement since it gives more emphasis to points and messaging. It allows to audience to know the transition from one point to the other, one message to the other or areas of emphasis which are imperative for note within the speech.

Part Two.

  1. The three nonverbal cues of communications which were used effectively includes effective use of gestures, maintained eye contact and facial expression. Gestures are effective since they capture the attention of the audience and help the audience to follow the speaker and the message. They help make more sense and meaning to phrases, examples, and terminologies used in the course of the speech. Maintaining an eye contact with the audience is a critical aspect of the nonverbal cues of communication since it gets the individual person in the audience to be attentive, it shows the extent of confidence the speaker has as a communicator. In addition, maintaining eye contact with the audience gives credibility to the message being passed. The audience also feels respected and valued when eye contact is maintained. Facial expression is important since it can stir emotions when the speaker of a message uses various facials to shoe excitement, anger, joy, regrets or sadness.
  2. The verbal delivery techniques which were used includes introduction and conclusion clauses, tonal variations and imagery. Introduction and conclusion points were visible since the introduction of the speech helped in capturing the attention of the audience while the conclusion alerted the audience that the speech is ending. It’s imperative since opening statements determine the attention the audience will give to the speech while the conclusion makes them attentive to come out with the punch lines. The tonal variations were used and were important in helping the audience know the thematic flow of the speech from one point to the next and emphasis on different areas. The presentation was able to create an image within the context of the audience of the entire circumstances surrounding the topic.
  3. The speech had some little aspects of the vocalized pauses due to the need to emphasize on some points and give examples which would be easy to understand by the audience. Such can be improved by practicing the speech delivery before time and having the right content and context before the delivery of the speech.
  4. The speech was effective and memorable since it was factual and information quoted from credible source which were easy to verify. The topic was also an issue of concern that the majority of the audience resonate with well hence delivering the message was persuasive since some people could react to some points made by nodding their heads and clapping their hands making it memorable.
