A persistent depressive disorder is also known as Dysthymia. It is a type of chronic disorder that can last for many days to one or two years. The effect of persistent depressive disorder can be different in children and adults. For example, the person suffering from this disorder have different symptoms like mood swing, change in appetite, poor concentration, fatigue, change in sleep pattern, and change in behavior. The person also loses their interest in doing their daily activities and also they feel difficulty in taking any specific decisions. Therefore these activities also create a problem in a relationship.
There is the various cause of this disorder including financial problem, loss of loved one, a chemical imbalance in brain and anxiety. Such disorder also affects the function of many body systems. For example, the immune system is also not able to work properly during depressive states and thus it causes to occur other diseases like the respiratory problem and heart diseases.
