As an example; if employer can reach the genome sequence of his workers it may create discrimination between people and it can damage people’s psychological state. When I look this issue for my own, I would like to know my genome sequence. Disease that I want to investigate will be the lung cancer because there are a lung cancer people in my family. I may try to modify my life style. With this way, I may protect myself from this cancer.
However, it can be also in opposite way, too. If I learn that I have this cancer gene, I may become a reluctant person toward the life. People can think that what they did, does not change their future. Thus, there is no need to strain against life. To learn about genome sequence absolutely changes people’s lives. However, there is no certain way to know this change is positive or negative. Taking everything about HGP into account, it can be pointed out that this project can help people and it can increase the life standards and health conditions of people.
However, there is another aspect of this issue, this may cause discrimination between people and damage people’s pstchological health. Furthermore, it damages not only psychological health, but also physical health, too. When people learn they have a dangerous genetical disease, they can give up fight toward the life and they can decrease their life standards. To sum up, HGP can be a dangerous weapon in sick-intentioned people’s hand. Scientists, governments and people should be careful when they decide to sequence Human Genome.
