As illustrated by Anderson, Adams & Adams, (2015), the first level of leadership is egocentric. It is the leader’s way or the highway. They are dictatorial, and when the employees don’t follow their instructions, they throw a fit. Employees don’t have a voice under such leadership. They feel pressure instead of satisfaction from their work. From the egocentric leadership, bosses graduate to reactive leadership. Employees under this kind of leadership feel appreciated and supported. They enjoy working with such a leader because they feel valued. The creative level of leadership calls on the person’s values. The focus on creative leadership is teamwork and fulfillment. Employees have a better chance of thriving under such leadership. An innovative leader eventually buds into an integral leader. Under such direction, the organization operates like a vehicle where everyone has a purpose. Unitive leadership is the highest level of leadership with the leaders being global visionaries. Employees experience freedom and have a chance of growth and self-fulfillment especially at this stage.
