Statement of the Problem The secondary aim of this study is Essay

1.2 Statement of the Problem: The secondary aim of this study is finding out all about the use of audio/visual aid in teaching of biology in some selected secondary schools in the Local government area and private sector in Tehsil Samahni District Bhimber. It is observed that most teacher of biology in the secondary school does not use audio / visual aid to promote learning of this crucible subject.1.3 Research Objective:Following were the major objectives of the study:1. To find out the effect of audio visual aids on students learning.

2. To find out the effect of traditional teaching approach on students learning. 3. To find out the difference among the achievement scores of students taught through audio visual aids teaching approach and those taught through traditional teaching approach.1.4 Null Hypothesis:1. HO1: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through activity based teaching approach on remembering level.2. HO2: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through activity based teaching approach on understanding level.

3. HO3: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through activity based teaching approach on application level.4. HO4: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through activity based teaching approach in overall achievement.5. HO5: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through traditional teaching approach on remembering level.6. HO6: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through traditional teaching approach on understanding level.7. HO7: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through traditional teaching approach on application level.8. HO8: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of pre test and post test taught through traditional teaching approach in overall achievement.9. HO9: There is no significant difference among the mean achievement scores of student taught through activity-based teaching approach and those taught through traditional teaching approach on students’ overall achievement.1.5 Significance of the Study:The significance of this study is to examine the importance of audio / visual aid in the teaching of reading biology in secondary schools. This study will aid in spelling pronunciation and fluency of student in reading it will suggest meaningful way of handing the aid to bring about positive change in the student-reading pattern. It will also help to suggest relevant aid to be used for each of the class concerned it will as well suggest areas and how to make the aid available to the school that are lacking.1.6 Scope and Limitations of the study:The study focused on secondary level. This study targeted on Government Girls High School tehsil samahni AJK. The research study is delimited to class 10th biology students.1.7 Delimitation of the study:As the researcher had a short period of time and in this time period it was unable to cover all the secondary school. Due to time constrain research study was delimit the study to the GOVT girls high school samahni city.1.8 Research methodology:The study was experimental and quantitative in nature.1.8.1 Population:All the student studying the subject of biology in secondary schools of tehsil samahni will be the population of study.1.8.2 Sample technique:This was a experimental research, for this research purposive sampling techniques were used to select a sample.1.8.3 Sample: The researcher is doing research in a very short period of time, unable to cover all population of area so, he choose GOVT girls high school samahni city as a sample of study.1.8.4 Research instruments:The researcher will prepare certain type of test from the book of biology for class 10th. The test will be of objective type and it will be conducted before the research begin, control as well as experimental group solve the same test this test is known as preliminary or pre- test.1.8.5 Data Collection:Researcher collects the data from the pre-test. This test was formed from the selected topic and the score of students were used to form the groups before the treatment begins.1.8.6 Data analysis:The data that obtained from pre- test will be arranged in the form of tables, graphs, figure that will be used to explain the results.1.9 OPERATION DEFINITIONS:1.9.1 Teaching Method:A teaching method combines the principles and methods used by teachers to enable student learning. These strategies are determined partly on subject matter to be taught and partly by the nature of the learner.the approaches for teaching can be broadly classified into teacher centered and student centered.1.9.2 Teaching learning process:Teaching learning is a process that includes many variables. These variables interact as learners work toward their goals and incorporate new knowledge, behaviors, and skills that add to their range of learning experiences.1.9.3 Audio Aid:Audio quite simply is sound. It is typically used to refer to sound that is transmitted, recorded, or reproduced.1.9.4 Visual Aid:Visual aids are things that you can look at, such as a film, model, map, or slides, to help you understand something or to remember information.CHAPTER 2Literature ReviewTechnologies have been developed since ages and the use of audio visuals have been developed with the invention of computer, the fastest way to communicate and it is obvious from the history, that pictures, images and specimens are quite effective tool for learning. John Amos Comenius (1660) was the first one who proposed a systematic method of audio visual education. Audio visual is made up of two words Audio states those that we can hear, and visual states those that we can see. And according to this definition, it limits our sense that it is just about speaker and audience but they are not physical present and even in the television (visuals) While the term aids used as a reference to speaker and just cancel its physical appearance (visuals) and unrecorded voice (audios) these are the elements that make him a speaker and therefore cannot aid his voice. There are some good audio visuals as maps, charts, hangouts.Audio visuals have been usually misunderstood. aids usually refers to both audios and videos There are few types of audible aids like spoken words, sounds and music. And then there are most frequently used audible aids like graphs, charts and three dimensional models. Audiovisuals must be used by teachers and they must understand it fully. Audio visuals help learners to vast their learning by adopting new techniques and methodologies for learning. Aids are the tools that teachers used in the class to motivate learners. Traditional methods make the whole learning class boring and dull. Audio visuals are the tools that enhance motivation level of learners and then they learn language in a faster way without any stress. While using different aids in the class for learning and teaching, different and visual aids equipment used those are as follows Animation movement, chalk board, fall boards, cartoons, newspapers, maps, graphs, charts, etc.Various applications are introduced to raise awareness and encourage educators to explore these the results are very encouraging, the student shows more active learning behavior in the teaching and learning process. In the research done by Gareis, Elisabeth, the use of most common visual aid power point is discussed. They developed a self instruction model which teaches the use of power point emphasizing more on creative visual aspect in the presentations. In the research conducted by Bell Reginald L, Quaei, Rahim, they found out that if the business education professors teach their relative topic by visual aid usage presentation then students are encouraged to see more. This advances the perception level of the students, which helps in the teaching and learning process. The various research outputs are discussed in short for the purpose of study. In their research article by Hanewald and Rai, and White, Pennie1 published in Australian Educational Computing, Dec 2008, narrates focuses on introducing Web 2.0technologies and possible uses for student and teacher learning and collaboration. Many of these tools are already used in social and business contacts. Many of these tools are already used in social and business contacts. These new and emerging applications are also gaining popularity in classrooms across all education new avenues for teaching and learning.
