Solved: What product or service may be considered a one-hit wonder, and why?

One hit wonder means product or service which get popular for short period of time and then the same will be out of the market.

I want to take an example of “Pagers”, this was the tool that was used by the many people to transferring the message before mobile phones. It was launched in 1980’s and was very successful Immediately the launch of the same. After the mobile phones were launched it was out of the market because messaging facility was already available in the same.

Below are the reasons for the failure of Pagers:-

• The service that is providing is already available with in Mobile phone
• That give short message and from phone they can talk to other person
• Not cost effective
• Information cannot be shared properly
• Incase of emergency, this was not giving any benefit to the user

Pager becomes complete waste when that is compared with the mobile phones. So eventually Pagers were out of the market completely.
