A “Weingarten Rule” is a rule stating that if a supervisor is meeting with a union employee and the meeting could result in discipline, the employee must have the ability to have a union delegate or representative present. In order to prevent violation, the supervisor should call in the shop steward to be present in listening to the employee’s opinions. A supervisor can freely meet with an employee at any time but in the event the meeting results in discipline, a shop steward must be there.

Medical tourism is starting to attract more and more patients because it is less expensive and the quality and expertise is just as good as what is received in the United States. If healthcare costs do not reduce soon, medical tourism will eventually become a more popular method of care.
