Part A: Cyber Ethics:
Emerging technologies offer many challenges related to their adoption and use. Not only do we need to determine ROI, NPV and other financial considerations over the life of the technology, but we should also consider how its use affects employees and society in general. Your assignment for this wiki is to research topics related to the impact of technology on society, beginning with the term “cyber ethics.” Use an Internet search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) to: 1) provide a definition of cyberethics, 2) discuss how it is different (or is it?) from “regular” ethics, and 3) identify one or two models we can use to evaluate the ethical use of modern technologies.
Cyberethics is the philosophic study of ethicspertaining to computers, encompassing user behavior and what computers are programmed to do, and how this affects individuals and society. Internet ethics means acceptable behaviour for using Internet. We should be honest, respect the rights and property of others on the Internet.
Cyberspace ethics are the roles of a person in the realization and expression of their true nature to anyone around the computer communication that defines how one should carry themselves and relate to others. Therefore, ethics and cyberspace define one’s nature and psychological issues affecting them and others. According to authors, a person behind a screen communicating with others in any computer system should focus in respecting the ethical nature of the people around the internet since every individual is linked to others using the internet. Cyberspace also entails the ethical privacy of any information drawn from an individual and shared through the internet. Conclusively, any cyberspace ethics pertaining people’s private information and business information should be protected at any cost and individuals should know how to protect themselves. Consumers and clients should not disclose any sensitive information across the online platform. Similarly, business people should be aware who to trust in their businesses as well as read the rules and regulations of data warehouses that stores junks of information in the cyberspace. Therefore, the ethics and cyberspace go hand in hand with the increasing rate of people indulging in the online platform.
Some models we can use to evaluate the ethical use of modern technologies are Captcha and user signatures to verify that they are sending in the right information without any bad intentions.
