the ultimate objective of marketing is to drive customers to buy our product. the other objectives are creating awareness about our product in the minds of customers, reach the customers, inform to them what is our product and how it wil be helpful to them and so on.
the customers also spread around the globe and it may not be possible with one or two alternatives of promotional tools. based on the customers alternative and preferance we must chose one promotial tool. it does not matter how the funds come to marketing department. the objective of marketing manager is to create awareness about the product and drive them to purchase the product.
some of the funds should be spend on traditional marketing tools like TV advertisements, news papers, magazines etc. they can also spend money on social media like twitter, facebook, orkut, etc. but the objective is to drive the cusotmers to buy the product. not the matter of whether spend on traditional market or internet tools.
