how would a SWOT analysis of an employee training program help?
Expert Answer
A SWOT analysis will determine the internal variables (Strength and Weakness) and the external variables (Opportunities and Threats). For employee training program development, this will be done for the employee base of the organization i.e. we will be finding the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunites, and Threats for the employees of the organization. After being done, the SWOT analysis will guide us which strengths of our employees will compliment the available opportunites of the market, what are the weaknesses than needs to be safeguarded from the treats of the markets. It may also be found that if we remove few weaknesses, we will be leveraging the market opportunities in a better way. This insight can then be used to develop the training plan and selecting the training topics/ domain. For example, in a particular market, social media marketing has immense opportunity to leverage but the team lacks the capability of such marketing (found by SWOT). The management then can implement a training plan which will reduce the existing gap and remove the weaknesses.
