I had to deal with bully in school who is physically superior to most of the students in my class and his personality is the reaosn for his bullying nature and attitude.
Bullying occurs in various forms – Physical, Verbal, Social and Cyber.
Below are the strategies a supervisor needs to use to address bullying in workplace –
1. Identify the bullies and the people who are getting bullied and affected to find the reasons behind the bullying and trying to ensure it is avoided
2. Providing counseling to the bullies to ensure they avoid bullying
3. Providing counseling to the people getting bullied to ensure they get confident and stay strong
4. Ensure the workplace is freen from bullying by creating an anti-bullying policy and practicies failure of following which will result in a punitive action.
Below are the potential ramifications of not addressing the issue –
1. The affected or bullied individuals will feel inferior and lose confidence which sometimes might result in extreme situations of ending lives.
2. The person who bullies will increasingly do the same for other individuals
3. Other individuals might be influenced by the bully and they might do the same.
4. Individuals will be afraid of taking any stands and decisions
