Definition of Marketing in General
According to the textbook: The American Marketing Association represents marketing professionals. Combining its 2004 and 2007 definitions, “marketing is the activity for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that benefit its customers, the organization, its stakeholders, and society at large”

Marketing in general words :- The process of converting consumers into customers is called marketing. Marketing is an art as well as a science. The combination of an art and science al together makes a perfect marketing. There are geniuses which have defined marketing from time to time and decades to decades. But in a general language the change in the definition is just the change of words and patterns as per the change in the economic known how. But in the end marketing is a chain reaction of the following four major things in the market as per follows :-
- Initiation.
- Reconstitution.
- Institutionalization.
- Maintenance.
As per the the American Marketing Association marketing is the activity for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that benefit its customers, the organization, its stakeholders, and society at large. The definition says that there has to be a chain reaction between the above mentioned things and when all the above mention points / things performs perfect in its place then the entire marketing will boost the sales of a particular product in the market resulting in the boost in the revenues for the company.
In the case – The definition suites perfectly when there is a chain reaction amongst the following things as per the definition :-
- Creating a concept.
- Communicating of the concept.
- Delivering and exchanging offerings that benefit its customers by the concept.
- The organization and its stakeholders benefits by the concept.
- Entire society at large and as a whole.
All the above mentioned things must perform with a support to each other and all the mentioned points must be fulfilled. We must take care that all the above mentioned points are be befitted and are executed well. And if done so, we shall surely agree to the definition of The American Marketing Association representing Marketing’s 2004 and 2007 definitions.
