Change is the process of making things different. In case when a certain group of people are moved from their homes which are near the mall to the outskirts of the town to allow development, it could be termed as a planned change.

However, in this regard there could be various forms of resistance evident such as voicing complains. The resistance could be due to the following reasons:

• The new place where they are asked to move could be more culturally diverse making it difficult for this group of people to accustom with.
• There may not be availability of as much of amenities as it was available when these people were not planned to be shifted from their local habitats. Moreover, the mall culture would have anyway helped these people to get an access to wide range of products and services with minimum efforts. Hence, shifting them to a town-side may put them in a position where they would have to start from the scratch and look out for amenities which could possibly not be as much in abundance as in case of their earlier location.
• The approachability factor to school, healthcare and other important services may also be located at a relative far off distance from the outskirts than from the main town which may therefore discourage this class of people to relocate.
• The social circle of friends and community also gets impacted due to the relocation factor that may cause mental disturbance to a person.

Various remedial measures that could be planned are as under:

• Facilitation and support activity is of prime importance. Develop a Township model that caters to all the basic amenities such as grocery, stationery items, basic medical services, etc. to address to the problem of amenities of such a group of people.
• The commutation facility should be improved so as to help the people living at the outskirts connect more easily with the main hubs.
• Manipulating the new environment to best suit the expectations of this class of persons would also be important. Building of a physical environment that embraces nature’s beauty such as greenery, artificial pond or a swimming area, garden and a park, etc.; all of which would help these people to stay put to such a place, needs to be considered.
• Educating the people by appropriate communication is important. Participation also helps in overcoming change. In this regard, explaining through various campaigns their roles in contributing towards the planned development of the state would be important.
• Negotiation would be next big way to overcome the resistance. Fair compensations to be offered in case of relocation so as to not put them in the condition of financial stress and tension.
• Last but the worst option would be to exercise coercion but in that way, although the change would be made possible in the system but it might have adverse effects later on. Hence this step should be avoided to the extent possible.
