Open source software means that all the resources of the software are available to the users and can be made available to each and every user which can later be used by him/her to gain the proper sourcing.The reasons of benefiting the open source software are as follows:
- It is free to use which adds a lot of advantage to the uses of the software.
- It can be modified and distributed freely which will help in more people involving with the technology as people need to make something on their own.
- It will also has lower costs of production. The cost will be equally handled by the user connecting with the technology.
- The security of the software can be enhanced as anyone using the software can fix the bugs as they are found and will not have to wait for the next release or so.
- With the large community support one can solve any of the issues fast and effectively with the help of many people collectively.
- The open source software is not dependent on any of the companies or any individual but is the result of a whole group of community people.
- The open source software can be used by anyone without even caring about the complex licensing models like product activation and the serial numbers.
Hence, these are the reasons the development phase and use of the open source software is been better than the traditional closed-source development.
