Ans: Effective teamwork is very important when it comes to heath settings. The fact that there is a solid division of responsibilities of each of the staff in healthcare such as doctors, assistants, nurse and other staffs , makes it obvious that healthcare can not work in silos. A great deal of expertise and efficiency required to be shown in order to deliver a task. However these team work skills are mostly never learnt during college and most of the time it is learnt at work itswlf. Such services requires a better interdisciplinary work and that creates the need for more trained professional in order to deliver better healthcare services.
Although there ar many studies that has been done on effective healthcare service but it is mostly concentrated on imporvin existing set ups. There is no such research done on training that can improve helathcare professional at work and their effective participation as team member. The findings of research done on the same are : for each team member, their abilities, skillset, attitude, values, perception of role and personality plays a greater role.
Managers can help facilitate this process upto a great extent. Healthcare can not be done in silos as I have mentioned earlier. It is a set of interdisciplinary practice. Managers can create plans for these professionals. Put them up for related trainings according to their skillset and hlp them overcome any bottlenecks they are facing. Mainly managers plays the role fo a facilitator since these are a set of team work and mostly team members(doctors, staffs, nurse) drives it to closure of the service.
