If we are busy as managers trying to coddle our employees and say there will be no repercussions for failure where does that leave the managers when it looks like you are ineffective as a manager and YOU suffer some sort of consequences for your employees poor performance?

When there is no repercussions for Poor performance or failures, it would just be a starting point for every one to take their task less seriously. There should always be a Target for people to perform more effectively and a stick to stop them from falling beyond. It is like having two line, one for forward to cross it and another at the back to stop them from falling below that line of performance.

And if managers remove that back line and cuddle their employees, they start falling backwards and would end up in a chain reaction of poor performance. And a manager is always weighted based on their team’s peformance and an organisation’s success depends on their Manager’s good performance. Thus this chain reaction reduce manager’s performance and thus would be blamed.
