How many moles of gas are there in a 65.3 L container at 27.0 degrees C and 950.0 torr?

Could someone please explain how to do this problem? I would use the formula n=PV/RT correct? Am I supposed to convert torr to another unit of measure? Thanks so much.

Expert Answer

Answer

PV = nRT

P = 950.0 torr = 1.25 atm

V = 65.3 L

T = 27.0 0C = 273 + 27 = 300 K

1.25 * 65.3 = n * 0.0821 * 300

81.625 = n * 24.63

n = 81.625 / 24.63 = 3.31 mole

Therefore, the number of moles of gas = 3.31 mole
