How does the type of project organization affect each of the types of conflicts that occur over the project life cycle?

Expert Answer

Answer: The type of organization decides that how the work and the tasks are carried out and directly impacts on the conflicts which arise during project management. Each of the organization type creates a conflict because of its limitations and characteristics. For example in functional organizations the conflicts arise between the functional managers and the project manager because of the conflict in authorities. The functional managers in such organizations have more power and authority than the project manager. These organizations are not designed for the projects but for the ongoing operations. Similarly in the matrix organizations also the functional managers retain the final authority to decide who will do what work. This again results in the conflict of authority and interests between the project managers and the functional managers. Therefore the type of organization affects each type of conflict which takes place over the project life cycle.
