Expert Answer

Every system at some point of time becomes obsolete. The system needs to be replaced with a new, latest and updated system.

The factors that indicate that system end life is near are: –

1. The maintainance cost increases rapidly. Because the system is outdated, and maintainance is not easy, So its cost increases rapidly.

2. As the system is not at par with the latest technologies, it seems unaccepted by the latest type of tasks.

3. Users starts demanding new features and capabilities, which the old system cannot incorporate because of outdated technology.

4. Software development life cycle of software ends. Maintainance phase also ends. At that time , we need a new system with new SDLC.
