Expert Answer
The three components of attitude are :
- Informational or cognitive component : It refers to the information or the idea of that an individual has about the subject. It consists of the person’s beliefs, perceptions, values etc. For example a person may get information from his sources that the promotional policy of a particular company is very favourable which automatically changes his attitude and perception towards the company and the job.
- Emotional or affective component: This refers to the individual’s feeling about the object. It involves the kind of emotions experienced towards the object for example love or hatred, like or dislike etc. If someone likes the job it can change his attitude towards the job.
- Behavioural component: This component of attitude consists of a tendency of an individual to behave in a particular way towards the object. For example an individual may decide to take up a job because of its good future prospects. Among all the three components only behavioural component can be directly observed.
Attitude is more of how perceive and look at things while behaviour is more of actions and habits. Attitude is reflected on the behaviour. The way we look at problems, we will develop solutions accordingly.
