Ans: HSARPA was established by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. It mainly uses innovation and modernization of scientific advances thereby producing front-line products which support DHS components.For example : U.S. Customs and Borders Protection, Secret Service, Coast Guard of US, Transportation Security Administration.
HSARPA does various reserach and analysis in order to understand these organizations mission, system and process thereby dentifying operational gaps where new technologies can impact better. Program managers usually lead teams of subject matter experts to formulate, tests and analyse these new homeland security technologies and capabilities.
It has seven major functional areas :
Borders and Maritime Security Division,Chemical and Biological Defense Division ,Cyber Security Division,Explosives Division ,Program Executive Office Unmanned Aerial Systems,Science & Technology Engines and Integrated Product Teams.
