Consider running real-time traffic, like VoIP, over a TCP or UDP socket. Why might the other protocol be beneficial, despite your answer above? For example, if you argued UDP above, why might a TCP-based application work in this instance? If you argued TCP above, what are the merits of using UDP instead.

In Voip running real time traffic through the UDP is better because of its reliable nature. It doesn’t matter what procedure it follows only thing count is which is reliable and what provides that reliability. In UDP the reliability is more which is considered for the voip.
The TCP connection is also will be used for voip. It also has the benefit that in TCP the data is transmitted only the connection between two is established other it doesn’t send.
Where as in UDP ut doesn’t wait for connection it seamlesly trasmits data to destination. There is small loss of data is there in UDP. But in TCP connections there is no loass of data.
