1. Objectives: Qualitative research methods are used where objectives of the research can not be obtained using Quantiative research methods. Qualitative research methods help in understand insights to the underlying problems. Example: Why a customer is not shopping on a website? Quantitative research will throw options at the User but Qualitative research will help figure out exact reason.
Quantitative research helps in quatification of research. This helps in generalization of result that is expected from the entire population under consderation.
Sampling: Qualitative sample size is generally 10 or more users and non- users whereas Quantitave research sample size is more than 30 users and non users. Minimum 30 users help us assume data to be of uniform distribution.
Data collection: Qualitative data collection can be by noting down interview experts, user observation, voice or video recording etc. It is text based data collection.
Quantitative data collection is mostly through surveys in a form which can be measured as well as interviews where questions are focused on answers which can be measured. It is statistics based data collection.
