Masculinity

You will write a researched argumentative essay or a rhetorical analysis that evaluates masculinity in relation to some aspect of American culture. For example, masculinity in sports, politics, academia, pop culture (film, TV, books, video games), or your life. Consider how masculinity functions / operates/regulates a particular area of society or how it features in a text, drawing upon credible, authoritative sources, good data/statistics, and sound, logical, persuasive argumentation. Develop compelling arguments that support your understanding of the issue (consider the stakes), drawing upon verifiable facts, sources with ethos, and your own rhetorical skills of persuasion as a writer to warrant, evidence, and assert your ideas in relation to the larger cultural conversation.
Need 2 sources from the upload files.
And need a proposal for this paper: Your burden here is to establish some causality between the social trends w/r/t gender and the source texts (your life, media, history, etc.). Additionally, give a general explanation of your interest in the topic and the kind of argument you imagine making at this stage–it does not have to be logical/clear/specific yet, only a gesture that gives you direction for development and research.
Intro:
I explain my topic and articulate interest in writing about it. I offer my opinion on the topic and gesture at the sort of argument I might make. I identify the particular aspects of the topic on which I will be focusing.
Aspect 1:
I brainstorm ideas about this aspect on the page, note why it seems relevant to my topic, speculate on the kinds of research/data that would warrant your arguments about this aspect
Aspect 2
Do the same as in aspect 1 for each of the subtopics I will be evaluating in the essay.
Conclusion:
Briefly recap the how each aspect connects to your topic. Explain why your topic matters. Answer the question”So what?” Why is it relevant to examine masculinity in ____________. Justify/evidence your interest and arguments.
Use this assignment to brainstorm, research creatively.
Develop an organizing idea and then begin interrogating it as a claim, nuancing and refining the language in order to control your burden of proof. Control your hyperbole.
