Introduction
This paper comprehensively analysis the philosophy and skills approach to Verizon Communications Company. The approach informs the functions and operations of the company as it strives to maintain high-performance remarks in the telecom industry. The company’s functionality in one of the continuously transforming industry with rapid technological advancements requires a clear vision and mission statements to help align its leadership, functionality, and employees with its strategic goals and objectives (Manning & Curtis, 2014). Verizon under the leadership of CEO Lowell McAdam sets an exemplary example of ethical organizations that utilize ethics as a counter measure and platform of addressing the company’s challenges.
Philosophy and Skills of Leadership within Verizon
The analysis of Verizon’s philosophy is based on the efforts of the leadership of CEO McAdam in developing an ethical workforce and corporate culture based on strong values, work ethics, and sense of responsibility. The company is guided by the philosophy of corporate culture that induces transparency and accountability as salient features to help the organization maneuver through the challenges and create opportunities for future growth (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, 20009). An ethical workforce induces strong corporate values that are precisely committed towards the realization of what is best for the organization. Hence, the philosophy and skills of leadership incorporated in Verizon are the top leaders serving as the model of strong values and corporate culture. In turn, the leadership best practices are to be embraced in the entire organization improving integrity and performance of the company.
Tone, Mission, and Vision in Verizon
The Verizon’s mission statement entails that “As a leader in communications, Verizon’s mission is to enable people and business to communicate with each other. We are also committed to providing full and open communication with our customers, employees, and investors” (Verizon, 2017). In turn, this sets a high bar for the company’s objectives to strategize on how to achieve these goals. Verizon comprises of visionary leadership that steers the company towards ambitious aims and objectives. Verizon has been on a growing trend maintaining its competitive advantage based on the tone set by its vision and mission of the organization. The organization tone established in the operations of Verizon focus of elevating the company to highest performance standards by inducing effective leadership and strong corporate culture. The tone culminates into the best practices of the organization as exerted by its CEO McAdam leadership of integrity.
Application of Ethical Concepts in Verizon
Verizon particularly focuses on improving ethical standards of the company. The ethical basis of operations in Verizon is salient features that have been strongly advocated for by the company’s CEO McAdam. Such concepts include integrity, transparency, and accountability. For example, CEO McAdam strives to induce a leadership that values norms and beliefs of doing the right thing for the company. McAdam ascertains the company of transparency as he advocates never to cut corners, rather, employees ought to do their best and pursue what they believe in (Nahavandi, 2016). This exerts freedom and high-level capacity of functioning with being suppressed by the leadership.
Ways Ethics Guides Verizon in Dealing with Challenges
The incorporation of ethics in the operations of Verizon asserts a significant opportunity for the company to pursue that which it believes in most with unique approach and transparency. The ethical extent allows the company assures the investors and employees of clear functioning. In turn, ethics helps to instill confidence to the company’s stakeholders presenting new frontiers of collaboration and elimination of any hurdles that might exist as a result.
Personal Leadership Attributes
The best personal leadership characteristics focus on the nature of leadership style which, in this case, entails transformational leadership to allow continuous innovation and creativity. Similarly, being pragmatic induces results orientation, thus, focus on providing effective solutions to challenges in the process and facilitate the improvement of quality. As well, integrity, responsibility, transparency, accountability, and effective communication are salient tenets of my leadership traits.
