Kind Of Scary Story Essay

Once upon a time, on a dark and scary Halloween night, lived a ghost. This ghost was unlike any other ghost, as the ghost didn’t want to scare any trick-or-treaters. Instead, he wanted to trick-or-treat himself. The ghost’s name was Bones, a very ironic name, as he didn’t have any bones.

Before, Bones had always done the scaring. It was his job to scare the trick-or-treaters passing by or entering the haunted house. He had to set up pranks and scares everywhere, making sure no trick-or-treater went unscared.

However, this time, Bones decided to become a trick-or-treater himself. He loved the taste of candy and the thrill of walking through a haunted house. He also loved being scared. So, he was getting ready to trick-or-treat. Then, his mom came into his room and asked about what he was doing.

“I’m just getting ready for trick-or-treating,” he replied.

“Trick-or-treating? You’re supposed to be scaring!” said his mom.

“This year, I want to try something different,” he answered.

“Well, I guess that’s fine then, Bones. But, if you’re going to be a trick-or-treater, you should at least look like one.”

“But I do look like one! I am a ghost after all.”

Actually, you look too real. Trick-or-treaters usually have some unrealistic ghost costumes,” stated his mom.

“Well that does make sense. A ghost costume is usually a white blanket with a few holes in it. But, how should I make myself look less like a ghost?” asked Bones.

“Hmmm, let me think. Maybe you could wear a costume? I have a couple in the basement, I’ll go get them.”

“Okay,” answered Bones. His mom left and came back with a huge box filled with costumes.

“I brought lots of costumes, why don’t you try them on?” she asked. After a while, Bones had tried multiple costumes, including a black cat, a vampire, a zombie, a pirate, a devil, a skeleton, a mummy and much, much more. Bones even wore a princess costume, a banana costume and a hamburger costume! Soon, the entire box was empty, but all the costumes he had tried on just weren’t right.

“Well, it’s too bad. None of these costumes were right for you,” his mom said, sadly.

“Yeah,” Bones replied. But, although all hope seemed lost, he saw a white costume at the bottom of the box. It was a ghost costume!

“Hey, it’s a ghost costume! I thought that was just a white blanket, that’s why I didn’t take it out! Quick, try it on! It’s almost time for trick-or-treating!” stated his mom. Bones put it on and it looked just right.

“Well, it’s no wonder why you thought this costume was just a white blanket! It looks just like one! But, I think this is the perfect costume to go trick-or-treating in!” said Bones, excitedly.

“A ghost being a ghost for Halloween… I think that’s a great idea! Although, it would’ve been best if you had just chosen the princess costume,” joked his mom.

“No way! At first I thought I would’ve had to go scare the trick-or-treaters, but I guess it all worked out in the end. Anyways, I’ve got to go trick-or-treat!”

“Have fun!” said his mom as she waved him goodbye.

In the end, the best costume for Bones was a ghost costume. Bones ended up having lots of fun and decided to trick-or-treat every year, in the same costume. This year he collected 2 full boxes of candy and enjoyed every second of trick-or-treating. He couldn’t wait for the next year, and was super excited for Halloween.
