International Business Strategy

Part 1 – .

a. A business / industry of interest that is either real or imaginary, but excites a core interest in your being. The business must “exist” in your home country, and

b. Conduct a preliminary analysis / research of three potential rival companies that have entered your home country and their international business entry modes into the country.

NOTE: Part 1 must be on one piece of paper in point form. It will be circulated amongst your fellow classmates for comments and open discussion in a mutual learning process.

Part 2. Deliverable at the beginning of Unit 3. On ONE page in point form:

a. Identify the competitive and/or absolute advantages the three companies named in Part 1 may be enjoying.

b. Identify and evaluate some of the globalization forces (drivers of globalization) that may be supporting or hindering their/ your success.

NOTE: Part 2 should be on one piece of paper in point form. It will be circulated amongst your fellow classmates for comments and open discussion in a mutual learning process. Part 2 flows naturally from Part 1.

Part 3. This deliverable is done in two halves:

a. The first half will be handed in at the beginning of Unit 4 for discussion as with Parts 1 and 2 above and will, in point form, speak to and identify the Key Success Factors (KSF) involved in the industry you have chosen. This submission will include, without elaboration, the companies / industries involved as well as the country from Parts 1 and 2 above.

b. The second half of Part 3 is the submission of a complete paper of no more than 1500 words in length (not including references and appendices) that conforms to RRU writing guidelines (citations). Student will supply a cover page. No table of content, executive summary, introduction, nor conclusion required. This paper is in effect, the composite of that above parts resulting from the transformation of a point form outline into an academic paper.
