Human Trafficking

Based on the research question that you posed in Part 1 of the research project, Part 2 provides demographic background on the group that your project focuses on. However you defined that group, this part of the project will provide a snapshot of that group in comparison to the U.S. population as a whole (or a comparable age group). Part 2 is due by 11:59pm on Thursday, October 15. It should be 3-4 pages in length, in addition to at least one table that illustrates the comparison you are making. This portion of the project is worth up to 25 points.

To complete Part 2, you should create a table comparing your group to the overall U.S. population. A template and example for this table is provided. Be sure to give your table a clear title and provide the source of your data at the bottom. Also, the data you collect should be from the U.S. Census (census.gov) or a reputable research organization (I recommend pewhispanic.org). Do not use Wikipedia! You should locate data from the 1990 Census and compare to the most recent year you can find. You should be able to find data more recent than the 2010 Census, if not use 2010 data. The data you choose to collect about your group may differ from that on the example table. That is okay, the data you present should be the data that makes the most sense and is the most useful for your specific research question. After you have completed the table, write a 2-3 page summary of the key findings from the table. Focus on the comparisons with the overall U.S. population. So, for example, you may find that your group’s population is significantly younger, more or less educated, have a higher/lower median income than the total population. Identify the comparisons that are most relevant for your specific research question. Choose approximately three comparisons to highlight in your text. These comparisons should be clearly related to the research question presented in Part 1. Be sure to cite your sources properly in the written portion and provide a bibliography. And the sources for the table should be included as well.

The table itself is worth up to 10 points and the written section is worth up to 15 points (5 points for each relevant comparison made).

An A paper will have a complete, accurate and relevant table that includes an effective title and cites all sources at the end. The table will be similar to the format of the example table provided. The written section will describe three key comparisons from the data in the table that are relevant to the research question. These comparisons will be described clearly, concisely and accurately. The written portion will be written in a clear, concise and compelling manner with close to zero typos or grammatical errors.
