Fables

You may have heard of Aesop, the writer of the fables we typically think of as children’s bedtime stories. Not so quick, however, Aesop was born a slave and earned his freedom by learning to read and write. It is alleged that Socrates, Ancient Greek Philosophy, put his fables to music. Ergo, we can trust that the fables are both playful and serious moral tales.
