Your task is:
Critically analyse the environmental health risks associated with
Relates to Learning
Outcomes:
disasters and mass gatherings and report on the environmental health
principles, management strategies and interdisciplinary approach to
managing environmental health risks using a particular case study to
guide the discussion.
The report should include (but not necessarily be limited to):
- the relevance of disasters/mass gatherings to environmental health,
- environmental health issues associated with the topic,
- relevant legal frameworks (e.g. relevant domestic laws and
international agreements / arrangements for international disasters;
licensing and local laws for an Australian mass gathering),
- the role of environmental health and other professionals, and
- a relevant case study.
The case study must be a real mass gathering or disaster (natural or
man-made). You may choose a suitable mass gathering that
accommodates more than 10,000 patrons over the event period or a
disaster that affected more than 10,000 people. You may integrate the
case study into your discussion about the topics identified above, or you
can discuss it under a separate heading.

Length:
3,000 words (+ or – 10%) (excludes tables, diagrams and
appendices).
If a submitted report exceeds the word limit, only the first 3300 words
will be marked. Any information provided after the first 3300 words
will not be considered when assessing the report against the marking
criteria.
