Can a manager really motivate an employee? If so, how?

Manager Motivation to Employees

According to Bratton & Gold (2017), there are various ways in which managers can motivate their employees like through better reward systems, benefits, inspirations, trainings, and involvement in decision making processes. Leaders are able to motivate their employees, when they recognize the employees’ hard work and contribution to the organization. Such recognition can be made public in the organization`s publications or events. Conversely, motivation can be in the form of being given the autonomy to make decision in the best interest of the company and supported in the implementation processes. Involvement in decision making processes motivates the employees since they fell they are integral components of the firm. Most importantly, better communication between the manager and the employees under him/her would be critical since the employees would feel that their grievances are listened to and possibly addressed.
