Workforce diversity within US is increasing at a fast pace. Management of diversity is a challenge for most organizations, at the same time it is important to have diversity at all levels within the organization. If you were planning to recruit for your organization, what steps would you undertake to make sure that you also plan for diversity?

Diversity at workplace, as rightly pointed out, is important and challenging both. If I am recruiting, I would plan the following steps:
- If I publish a vacancy advertisement, I would clearly highlight that these positions are open to all irrespective of gender, religion, nationality, age etc. The purpose is to grab the interest of diverse applicants.
- From the complete list applicants, I will shortlist a fixed number of candidates to be called for interview/test etc. While doing so, I will make sure that the list of shortlisted candidates has diversity in right proportion.
- After the interview/test etc. is comleted, I will make sure that candidates are selected from diverse background, nationality, gender etc.
- I will also try to maintain diversity at all levels.
- And at last but not the least, while ensuring diversity, I will make sure that right candidates are selected without compromising the right skill.
