Benchmarking is a continued, methodical effort and process, by which one can measure by comparing his output/products or work processes against the best in the industry or the toughest rivals in the market. Benefit of Benchmarking is that it raises the level of organization’s performance in Quality, Cost, and Delivery and thus achieves greater customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and market share. Benchmarking process involves 5 major stages of – a) deciding what to benchmark, b) identifying benchmarking partners; whom to benchmark to, c) gather relevant information for comparison, d) analyzing gaps and chalking out strategy and actions, e) implementing the actions.
REVERSE ENGINEERING: –
When you are curious about the functioning of an instrument, equipment, an electronic hardware or a software program, and you tear it apart to find out in detail how it works, and you modify or improve its functioning but you do not copy the original design – you have done Reverse Engineering.
