The JS Promenade, the event that all the Juniors and Seniors have been wishing and waiting for since the start of the school year, has finally come true. Speculation and curiosity can be seen and heard everywhere before the actual program, but this event all came to life through the efforts and careful planning of the Junior Class Organization and the teachers. They really worked hard to make this evening very memorable to those in attendance. This Junior Senior Promenade was held in our school gymnasium last February 12, 2012.
The program proper started at around 6:30 pm. As the students were arriving in their lavish attires, they were being serenaded by the band of the Seniors, which comprised of Kim Hilario, Marlon Carigma, Jao Santos, Denzel Villaremo, Abbylyn Balicanta, Maureen Villapando, and Antoinette Santos. When almost all of the students had already arrived, the program proper finally started. The hosts that evening were Joy Claudine Quintos and Nicole Justin Alarcon, both from the juniors.
The program was simple, yet very meaningful for everyone. The program started with an invocation given by Marielle Rosales, and the ceremonial toast. After that, dinner was already served. After eating the delicious meal prepared by the caterers, the last will and testament of the Seniors was delivered by the Student Council Organization President, Emmanuel Joseph Mamaril. The speech was very formal and contained the legacies of the seniors that they would like to pass down to the juniors.
The much awaited “Who is who” among the Juniors and the Seniors came next, which contained personalities from the 4th year and their counterpart 3rd year student. This part of the program was presented by Mr. Orient Rex Repollo and Mrs. Ma. Fatima L. Montoya. The turn-over speech, given by Maria Cecilia Hiyao, the president of the Senior Class Organization, came next. She delivered her heartfelt speech regarding the responsibilities and expectations they had from the juniors, which will be the seniors next year. Arianna Lee, the president of the Junior Class Organization, delivered her acceptance speech in return. She also accepted the Mantle of Responsibility and the Key of Wisdom handed down by the Seniors.
During intervals, special numbers were given by some students. A duet was given by Lien Lim and Tomas Manuela. Also, “The Nameless Band” from the Juniors, comprising of Satchel Beltran, Blaise Ramos, Michael Pampellona, and Donnie Santos, also rendered special songs for everyone to enjoy.
It was then time to give special awards to the people who really stood out during the night. The titles “Faces of the Night” were awarded to Abram Jao Santos and Junrhio Hernandez. Emmanuel Mamaril and Kirsten Dedase, on the other hand, received the titles of being Mr. and Ms. Senior, whereas Ralph Martinez and Joan Cacal were awarded Mr. And Ms. Junior.
The candle lighting ceremony, the most solemn part of the entire program, came next. Here the juniors bid farewell and good luck to the seniors in the paths that they’ll take in the future. Their class theme songs were also sung by both batches. As the ceremony ended, the juniors took their step towards maturity. This signified the acceptance of the juniors to become the future leaders and role models of our alma mater.
The final part of the program was the Cotillion. This anticipated dance number was choreographed by Mr. Luisito “Cookie” Nalug. Selected students were chosen from the juniors and seniors to perform this dance number. The Cotillion dancers were formally presented to the audience by Mr. James Lee and Mrs. Teresita A. Yuan. The dance number that they rendered was really magnificent, and really garnered a lot of praise from the audience. The socials followed after this performance.
All of the juniors and seniors in attendance had a blast that night. Moments like these are really the things that make High School very memorable. With all the glamour and excellence presented that night, let us not forget the true essence of this JS Promenade – taking a step towards being role models and leaders of the future. May the juniors, who will be the seniors next year, bring more glory and honor to our school next school year. May God guide you on the path that lies ahead of you. Carpe diem!
