1. We are looking to support the brightest and best individuals who will actively contribute to the development of their nation in the future. Please describe any special attributes or accomplishments that you think make you deserving of a Think Big scholarship?

This could be any academic or extra-curricular achievements, as well as your reasons for applying to the scholarship programme. 

I always learn from my past, live in the present and plan ahead for the future. I sincerely work hard to achieve my goals, which is evident from my consistent performance in my grades.

Apart from my academics, I have always been an active participant in extracurricular activities. As a result of my curiosity and good connection between my college and IEEE, myself with some of my friends started a Robotics Club in our college. This fostered my learning in the field of robotics along with my interest in the same, where I aced competition held by IIT Kharagpur twice. I was given a grant by the Government of West Bengal, India, where half of my college tuition fees was waived off.

Coming from a very humble background and being brought by a single parent, I have faced economic setbacks from a very early age.

However, I have never let such financial hurdles damn my spirits as I kept dedicated to my goals. The path of hard work made me deliver the projects with full efficiency to the client and I was recognized by an award “Pat on back”, by the CEO of our organization.

 We are looking for scholars who will be great ambassadors for the University. Please give an example of when you have recently contributed to your community?

This could be your School or University, where you live, or any other community you feel a part of.

I, along with my classmates started a Robotics Club in our college. We, in collaboration with IEEE, trained enthusiastic students at free of cost. The importance of being proactive and doing something more than course work used to be our aphorism which we imbibed within the students. They were given certificates from IEEE after clearing an online exam, which proved to be pivotal in their resume. This Club is a legacy of ours which is still running actively by the current students.

‘Little Butterfly’, a brainchild of mine has become a reality with the help of my friends. Though 18 years is the Legal age to marry, child Marriages are predominate in rural areas. Our team performed street acts to educate people about the ill-effects of child Marriage and stopped a few from happening. Children in government school were provided tuitions for free of cost. Our works were widely recognized by our University for making a positive change in society.

I feel so proud to say that I am associated with Local Queer community, “Sappho for Equality” is our aim. I have taken part in all kinds of events related to ‘Protection of Rights-LGBT community’

We would like to support students who have clear goals for their future. Please explain how studying your chosen programme at the University of Bristol will help you to ‘Think Big’ and shape your plans after graduation?

Explain what has attracted you to study at the University of Bristol, as well as outlining your ultimate career goals.

Despite of technological advancement, the most common calls of death, not only in India but also in the world, is poor medication. BioScience integrated with Data Mining can help in gene classification, microarray data helping in cancer classifications, the mutation in cancer, protein structure prediction, etc, is capable of solving major issues in the medical field.

Dr. TiloBurghardt’s paper, “The Visual Animal Biometrics” astonished me. It states that Turning-patterned animals can be individually identified based on visual material acquired on their natural habitat. This made me realize the power of Data Mining. It has encouraged me to choose my Masters in Machine Language, Data Mining and High-Performance Computing from the University Of Bristol. Dr. TiloBurghardt’s standpoint inspired me to inclined towards this field.

Under his esteem guidance, this scholarship can help me to achieve my goal. I believe that integration of Sciences can help more people in need. So while I embark on my journey to an International arena of studies and creative challenges, if granted this scholarship, I will be highly obliged.
